France wins the Bakery World Cup

16 years after its last victory, France, represented by Franck FORTIER, Fabien NOLAY, Xavier SACRISTE and coached by Grégoire Bardet, won the 12th edition of the Bakery World Cup co-founded by EKIP, the National Confederation of French Bakery and Pastry and the Club of MOF bakers.

During two days of intense competition at the Sirha Europain trade fair in Paris, the 10 teams, each composed of 3 candidates specializing in Bread, Viennese Pastries and Artistic Pieces, competed in four challenges: "Baguette and World Bread", "Viennese Pastries", "Bakery Restoration" and "Artistic Pieces". The participants were evaluated on their technical expertise and creativity by a jury of seasoned professionals.

South Korea and Japan complete the podium, in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

European Selection of the World Pastry Cup

France, represented by Haruka ATSUJI (chocolate candidate) and Jeremy Massing (sugar candidate), won the European Selection of the Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie, at the end of two days of a major competition that brought together 7 countries from the European continent, during the Sirha Europain Show. Italy and the United Kingdom completed the podium, in 2nd and 3rd place respectively. The 3 teams thus qualified for the Grand Final of the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie, which will take place on January 24 and 25, 2025 during the next Sirha Lyon.

Finalists from the Centre Ile de France region of the 50th edition of the French Dessert Championship

At the end of the three-hour competition for both juniors and professionals, the juries, chaired by Jeffrey Cagnes, delivered their verdict. The two finalists are:

Matthias LAFERE, additional mention of restaurant dessert cook at the Ferrandi School, Paris (75), in the “Juniors” category

Alexandre LEGRAS, sous-chef pastry chef at the restaurant Epicure from the Hôtel Le Bristol, Paris (75), in the “Professionals” category

This regional final is a good preview of what awaits Matthias and Alexandre for the national final which will take place on April 3 and 4, 2024. They will have 4 hours and 50 minutes to make two desserts this time: the basket dessert and the selection dessert.

Good luck to both of you.
